Woolzies Dryer Ball Review and GIVEAWAY!!

I was sent a package of Woolzies Dryer Balls to review and give my honest feedback. After using liquid and sheet fabric softener, plastic balls and even resorting to plain vinegar in my Downy ball I've finally found something that actually works! Sure, traditional fabric softeners get your clothes nice and soft--but did you know they contain nasty chemicals, reduce the absorbancy of your towels, are bad for the environment and even hinder the fire retardant sleepwear your children wear? Sure, it smells nice but the cons far outweigh that one pro of traditional fabric softener. I tried the plastic dryer balls but they broke apart and I also realized that the heat from the dryer melts the plastic and releases dangerous chemicals.

Woolzies bounce around in your dryer, naturally separating and creating space between your laundry, thereby allowing the hot dryer air to circulate better and subsequently cutting down on drying time by about 25% in large loads and as much as 35-40% in small loads. This of course saves both time and money for you and energy for the environment!

Pros of Woolzies Dryer Balls:

Saves time and money
Softens Naturally
Reduces Static
Helps Eliminate Wrinkles
Reduces Drying Time
Saves Energy
Noise Free
Chemical free
Hypoallergenic
100% safe for people with wool sensitives
Handmade from fine New Zealand wool
Guaranteed to last for 1,000 loads!

I used all 6 balls in each load and my laundry came out soft and static free. They recommend that you throw in a ball of aluminum foil if you really have an issue with static but I haven't had to do that. I really recommend these, they're great!

So how would you like to win your own set of Woolzies dryer balls?? Woolzies is giving a pack away to one of our lucky readers! Just fill out the Rafflecopter form here to enter and a winner will be announced shortly. This contest is open worldwide!!

Ivory® 2-IN-1 Hair & Body Wash Review

I recently received Ivory 2-IN-1 Hair and Body Wash complimentary of Influenster to test and review. I was a little skeptical at first because in my experience the all-in-one products just don't cut it in one of the areas they're supposed to be helping. Either it's a horrible soap or a horrible conditioner. Or it smells bad.

No so with Ivory! It has a fresh clean smell and it's really nice not to have to use multiple products. I'm a working mom of 5 -- I don't have a lot of time in the morning to fool with products. The conditioner aspect is sufficient. I have really long hair that I've colored over the years so I need intense conditioning. This was enough to get the job started and then I just added a leave-in conditioner once I got out of the shower, which I do anyway.

It was perfect for shower time with the kids! I still wash the girl's hair about once a week because I've found that kids don't always do the best job scrubbing. So I need to do it periodically so that I can remove the buildup from them not doing the best job. And it really gets the job done...their hair was literally squeaky clean and beautifully conditioned. Yay for no tangles!

This is a bargain for around $4 for a 24 oz. bottle, 33% MORE than the leading 2IN1 brand (24oz vs 18oz). Since we don't have to use so many products it's definitely a money saver! I love that Ivory products are free from dyes and heavy perfumes. So say goodbye to the 3-step hassle of using shampoo, conditioner and then body wash-- use Ivory 2-IN-1 Hair and Body Wash for the whole family!

Check out this video. I can sympathize! Ivory 2-IN-1 Hair and Body Wash saves shower space -- bonus! Be sure to follow Ivory's Facebook page to get updates.

Couponing Lessons Learned

Well, it's happened.... I've had D'OH!! moments in my couponing adventures. Two in one week, in fact! I always read of such moments on other blogs but promised myself that I would never let couponing get the best of me. I would carefully research everything and keep tabs on what was going on.

This week got the best of me. Sure, I got $105 worth of product for $32 at one store and $49 worth of product for $22.50 at another which works out to approximately a 70% and 50% savings respectively. Not bad! But I should've saved even more.

The first trip was at Rite Aid. I had received $15 in +Up Rewards the previous week and planned to use them towards my OOP. My +Up Rewards are stored on my card so I just assumed that they had already been credited to the total. I had all 5 kids with me (I don't advise that, by the way...) and didn't want to argue with the cashier who was less than friendly to begin with. So I got home and looked at my receipt. Sure enough, my +Up Rewards hadn't been applied to my total. I looked up my account online and couldn't find the rewards on my account. I decided to 'chat' with an online person at RiteAid.com and they told me that the last time I had earned +Up Rewards was the end of March. Yeah...NO. Basically, it came down to a he said / she said and I needed to show them my receipt. Well guess what--in a cleaning fit over the weekend I had thrown my receipt away. Fabulous. I basically threw $15 away. Not. Cool.

The second trip was to Target. They were having a promotion on Children's Advil where if you buy 2 you get a $5 gift card. Apparently there are a few greedy couponers in my town because they were out of the grape flavor. No biggie, I thought, I'll just get white grape...the minions don't care! I go to check out and realize that I didn't receive a gift card so I went back to the cashier and she looked it up in the computer and the ad. Nothing. She asked if I wanted to walk back with her to check but I declined because I had to get my son from soccer practice (another thing I don't recommend...couponing with time constraints). After doing a little research at home, I realized that the promotion was only on the grape flavor. Thinking back, the signs for the promotion were only on the out-of-stock grape flavor. D'OH!

These lessons cost me $20...not. cool. at. all.

So to summarize:
  • Save your receipts. They come in handy when a dispute arises and there are some apps (Ibotta and Endorse) that you'll need your receipt for.
  • Make sure to get the EXACT product that is included in a promotion. Apparently flavors matter!
  • Don't go with the minions and don't go when one of the minions needs to be picked up from soccer practice.
