Today I was hopping all over Blogland, going wherever my tired-from-the-ridiculously-long-Super-Bowl mind led me and found just what I need--a fitness group hosted by Lanaya over at Raising Reagan. I get more exercise when I have a buddy and I eat better if I know I'll be telling someone what I ate. I'm not overweight, by any stretch of the imagination but I could stand to lose the last 15 (ok, 20) pounds of baby pooch I still have left.
I've joined the Facebook group, added friends on the MyFitnessPal app and I'm ready to go...
This week's challenge is "What is the one thing in your diet that you NEED to change?"
I really need to cut back on sugar. It's so bad for you but oh so yummy!! I've already told my husband to stop buying yummy treats for me at the store. He's the type of guy that will bring home cheesecake just because he loves me and knows it would lift my spirits if I'm having a bad day. I told him at the beginning of the year (when I made the resolution that I've already broken to lose weight) that if he loves me he won't bring home cheesecake. He hasn't, God love him...
So now that I don't have that loveliness tempting me, all that I have left is my mocha coffees and my afternoon chocolate cravings. I don't really drink too much soda so it's not like I need to cut that out.
Mocha coffees: I used to make my morning coffee when I get to the office because they have a kick ass selection of coffees and hot chocolate. So I would make my coffee with one Keurig cup of coffee and one Keurig cup of hot chocolate...mixed together...with 4 creamers and 3 sugars. Really bad, I know!! This morning I started making my coffee at home and drinking it on the way in. I use one packet of stevia and no hot chocolate. sigh...
Afternoon chocolate cravings: I have a boring job. I love the people I work with and the company I work for but ... it's boring. So by 3 pm I need a pick-me-up. What's better than the peanut M&M's in the vending machine?? I suppose an apple but that's not much of a pick-me-up. So this is where I'll need will power. And a snack...

Ohhh. who doesn't love sugar. I do believe it is needed in anyone's diet, but of course, in moderation. Why don't they sell all chocolate in smaller portioned? But instead, during the holidays, they offer like 5 pound bars, right?!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your snacking. I myself love turning to nuts and berries for snack time!

Berries are a great idea!! I have peanuts in my desk at work but I'm not a big fan. I should bring in almonds...
DeleteLOL ~ ...and a snack! That's great. Peanut M&M's are yummy aren't they! So check this out ... I just bought Nutella for the first time. I know, weird. I have a very bad thing with hazlenut smell. (BAD drinking experience, don't ask!) Anyways, I bought the gluten free carmel corn cakes and I throw a smear of Nutella on and you have a healthy snack for 200 calories or something like that! It satisfies my sweet craving and that makes me happy!!

hmmm...I'll have to look into the Nutella! If I can pry it from my kid's grimy little hands. lol I never really thought of it. I just thought chocolate=bad
DeleteI am the same, I need to cut back on sweets. But it's sooo hard!!
ReplyDeleteit really is!!!! I've heard that we're literally addicted to sugar and it's like going through a withdrawl. no wonder it's so painful lol
DeleteJust found your blog on SITS. I'm working on losing weight too. So hard. 1 snack I really like is nutella on lowfat graham crackers.
ReplyDeleteoo that sounds yummy!!! I'll have to try it. :)
DeleteThanks for stopping by!
I have a wonderful hubby that craves sweets. He'll buy an apple pie (for him), eat one slice, then leave the rest to tempt and upset me. I hate waste - so who eats the rest? I do! And I'm the last person who needs it.
ReplyDeleteLook forward to more posts!

I work with a group of people that don't crave sweets like I do. So when someone brings in a plate of leftover brownies I usually end up eating almost the whole plate. Yes 3:00 p.m. is the worst. Once a co-worker gave up sweets for lent. I decided to participate with her and let everyone know, so I felt too guilty sneaking a treat. It really worked and I lost weight. Good luck with your challenge.
ReplyDeleteahhh yeah I gave up sweets for Lent once too. And that's a good idea to tell people so you don't feel guilty. Thanks for visiting!! :)
